Dirk Braakman Pair of Irene Dining Chairs UMS Pastoe 1948
Pair of 'Irene' dining chairs designed by Dirk Braakman in 1948 for UMS Pastoe.
Dirk Braakman was the father of the well known Cees Braakman and was responsible for the modernist direction UMS Pastoe was heading to.
This particular chair was the first plywood chair by Pastoe which makes it an important chair in the history of Dutch design and Pastoe.
The chairs have a solid oak frame and a birch plywood seat and backrest.
Very comfortable chairs and still looking fresh.
The chairs are in good original condition, some normal traces of use. 1 tiny feneer-damage at the bottom of the seat which is nicely repaired.
