Gerrit Rietveld Pair of Utrecht Chairs Cassina 1935/1988
Pair of lounge chairs, model 637 Utrecht, designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1935.
Originally designed for the Metz & Co department store and in 1988 reissued by Cassina Italy.
This chair was the first upholstered chair Rietveld designed.
They have a steel supporting frame, polyurethane foam and polyester padding. These chairs still have the original red wool upholstery.
Classic design by the master.
The chairs are in good original condition. The fabric is still good, some discoloration due to sunlight. The foam is still very good.
