Ingo Maurer Bibibibi Table Lamp Germany 1982

Iconic table lamp, model Bibibibi, designed by Ingo Maurer in 1982.
This particular lamp was bought in the 1990s. It is marked on the base between the feet.
He designed the idiosyncratic lamp as a comment on the modernist design of the time, which he considered to be far too serious. The inspiration came by chance. During a search for a wedding present for friends, the plastic storks turned out to be sold out, only two legs remained. The prototype of the bird lamp was born by adding a shade, metal wire, feather headdress, fitting, lightbulb and cord.
Very funny and playful lamp.
It has a white porcelain base, red plastic bird legs and a black aluminum shade. On top of the shade it has a metal cord with a feather on top of it.
The white porcelain plate reflects a soft light that is glare-free, and can function as a shelf for small objects.
The lamp is in excellent original condition. Hardly any traces of use.
