Set of 6 Shaker dining chairs designed by Atelier van Lieshout (Joep van Lieshout) in 1999 for Moooi.
The chairs are stamped with the original label.
The design is based on the furniture made by the 'Shakers', a religious community from England that lived in the Northern parts of the USA from the end of the 18th century. Their furniture was sober and can be seen as the precursor of modern design.
The chairs have a solid beech wood frame and a beech plywood seat and backrest. The chair is tilted backwards, which gives it a very playful touch.
They are in very good condition. 2 have minor scratches on the seats and one of these has a repaired damage on the corner of the backrest, as you can see on the last 2 pictures. The others are excellent.
