Gerard Wijnen Pair of Bossche School Armchairs De Twee Snoeken 1970s
A pair of very rare armchairs designed by the Bossche School architect Gerard Wijnen in the 1970s for his own architectural firm De Twee Snoeken.
This pair is acquired from the architect Tom Senders, who was the associate of Gerard Wijnen at De Twee Snoeken. He was using them in his private residence.
Very few of these chairs were produced.
The chairs are made according the proportions of the 'plastic number', made up by the founder of the Bossche School and monk Dom Hans van der Laan.
The chairs are made of solid beech wood painted in grey. The colour was chosen by Wim van Hooff, who was a colour artist and responsible for all colour schemes used by the Bossche School architects.
The chairs are quite big and heavy.
They are in very good condition. Little traces of use. A tiny bit of light blue paint on the backside of one of the backlegs, as visible on the last picture.
