Piet Blom Bastille Chair 1965

Very rare Bastille chair designed by Piet Blom around 1965.
Piet Blom is a well known architect famous for his Cube houses in Rotterdam.
He designed the chair for the cafetaria (nicknamed The Bastille) at the Technical University of Twente. Only 400 of these chairs were made and less than 200 survived the renovation of the chairs during the nineties. Also this example was then repainted in the original colors, like almost all of them.
The chair is made of lacquered wood in a constructivist style, a hommage to 'De Stijl'.
It is in good condition with patina, some loss of lacquer. The chair is sturdy and well usable.
