PIET BLOM PAIR OF BASTILLE CHAIRS 1965
Very rare pair of Bastille chairs designed by Piet Blom around 1965.
Piet Blom is a well known architect famous for his Cube houses in Rotterdam.
He designed the chairs for the cafetaria (nicknamed The Bastille) at the Technical University of Twente. Only 400 of these chairs were made and less than 200 survived the renovation of the chairs during the nineties. Also these chairs were then repainted in the original colors, like almost all of them.
The chairs are made of lacquered wood in a constructivist style, a hommage to 'De Stijl'.
They are in good condition, only little traces of wear. No damages of the wood and the chairs are sturdy. Little color difference between the two chairs.
