Borge Mogensen Spanish Chair Fredericia Denmark 1958

One of the most iconic pieces by Borge Mogensen, the Spanish Chair or model 2226, designed in 1958 for Fredericia Stolefabrik.
A classic chair in Danish furniture design history.
It has a solid oak frame and a natural saddle leather seat and backrest, secured to the frame by belts.
Each part of the timber frame is assembled with wooden dowels and bonded together under high pressure to ensure strength and stability for decades to come. The exquisite leather hides are 100% vegetable tanned and dyed in large wooden drums following ancient traditions handed down through generations of craftsmen. This meticulous process takes more than four weeks and creates a rich and beautiful saddle leather, which over time develops an extraordinary patina that cannot be achieved in any other way.
Due to the great proportions and well-sized armrests, the chair has a very strong appearance.
The chair is about 30 years old, but hardly used and therefore in excellent and original condition with a slight patine.
