Fantastic rattan lounge chair, model Gala, designed by Franco Albini in 1951 for Vittorio Bonacina Italy.
This must be one of the nicest rattan chairs ever made.
Fully handmade. The structure is made of bamboo and the seating is hand-woven with Indian rattan cane. The seat is adjustable in two positions, foir a more relaxing or a more active posture.
The curvature of the elements of Indian cane is designed to give elastic support to the body following the forms.
The chair is part of the permanent collection of the MoMA and the Vitra Design Museum and the design won the gold medal at the IX Triennale in MIlano 1951.
The chair is in very good original condition. Just some normal traces of wear, no damages.
