Theo Ruth Penguin Lounge Chair Artifort Dutch 1957

Fantastic lounge chair designed by Theo Ruth in 1957 for Artifort. The chair is based on the African design chair that consists of two parts. Very comfortable and really a progressive design for that time. This version with the armrests (penguin) is more rare than the other model without armrests (Congo). The backrest part has a red upholstery with fine stripes pattern with a darker colour (tends a bit to light purple) and the seat has a wider pattern with the same colours. I would say this is still the original fabric. Underneath the seat was a big tear in the fabric, so we replaced this with a red fabric (almost invisible as it is underneath the seat).
The chair is in very good condition.
