Coen de Vries Sleeper Sofa Hamer & Co 1956

Modernist sleeper sofa designed by Coen de Vries in 1956 for Hamer & Co.
This sofa was part of the Plus Series, this model is the Plus 204.
One of the earliest Dutch modern sleeper sofas. It seems obvious Martin Visser was influenced by this design for his later to become famous sleeper sofa.
Very clever design, it can be easily transformed into a daybed. The sides can be slided sidewards and by turning the backrest and the seat cushions you can put the back cushions in between.
These sofas are not offered a lot.
Some years ago the sofa is reupholstered. Then they also put small wooden blocks underneath the seat to create a slight angle in the seat for more comfort.
It has a square black metal frame.
The sofa is in good condition. Some normal traces of use. The fabric is still very good.
