Wolfgang Laubersheimer 'Verspanntes Regal' Pentagon Group Germany 1984
Fantastic bookcase, called 'Verspanntes Regal (Tension Shelf), designed by Wolfgang Laubersheimer in 1984 for the Pentagon Group Germany.
Wolfgang Laubersheimer is one of the founders of the “Pentagon” group which had a great success on the exhibition “Documenta 8” at Kassel. Furniture of simple forms using durable materials which contrast on one side with the “Gute Form” of postwar Bauhaus traditions and on the other the post-modern tendencies of the 80’s.
This avant-garde bookcase is made of grey cold-painted steel and it has a steel cable on the side. This characteristic cable is by no means decoration, but provides the tension and stability it needs to remain upright.
This is the highest version with 8 shelves.
The bookcase is in good original condition. Some wear to the sides.
