Ko Verzuu Rare Child Chair Ado 1930s
Very rare early child chair designed by Ko Verzuu in the 1930s for Ado.
Ado means Arbeid door onvolwaardigen, translated: labor by incapacitated. Ko Verzuu was the main designer and he developed a strong preference for the abstract lines and bright colours, inspired by De Stijl, Gerrit Rietveld and De Haagse School.
This chair was handmade in the early years of Ado. Not many were made and definitely only a few survived. Very interesting piece for the collectors.
The chair was painted in red, grey and yellow ends. Unfortunately it doesn't look original anymore. Most likely the previous owner started sanding the chair, probably with the idea to repaint it. This is clearly visible on the pictures. For the rest the condition is fair.
