Huge Sonora 493 pendant, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1976 for Oluce Italy.
This is the largest version of the Sonora Series, which was added to this Series in 2006. This last variant measured 133 cm, acting as a demonstration of exceptional technology. Sonora, awkwardly imitated throughout the world, is certainly one of the most popular lamps designed by Magistretti, who recognised in it the ability to illuminate, and especially characterise, an entire environment: a kind of volume that is contained in another volume that is the room.
The geometric sphere shade is made of white opaque methacrylate. Inside it has 2 E27 bulbs up to 150W. It gives very soft and atmospheric light when lit.
The lamp is in excellent condition.
