Ruud Jan Kokke 1st Edition 'Latjes' Dining Set 1986
This is for something very special. A very early (most likely one of the earliest) 'Latjes' dining set, designed by Ruud Jan Kokke in 1986.
This set has the best provenance possible, it was given by the designer to his parents. We acquired the set 10 years ago from the designer's sister (see the last picture) who get it from the parents later. All is branded with the Kokke label.
This set would look right in a museum.
The set consists of 4 'Latjes' dining chairs and a 'Latjes' dining table. The chairs have a solid oak wood frame and the slats are made of tough and flexible ash wood. The dimensions of the chair are: w: 0,41 ; d: 0,49 ; h: 0,83 ; seat h: 0,47. The table has also a solid oak frame and an oak veneer top with an amazing inlay of oak slats. Later versions of the table did not have this inlay of slats anymore. The stylish curved slats in between the frame were necessary to give the slim body some more strength.
This amazing set is elegant, sophisticated and minimalist at the same time. A true master piece.
The highly acclaimed 'Latjes' chair is included in the collection of various museums including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the MoMa in New York.
After 10 years we are finally ready to let this unique set go.
The set is in good original condition with a lovely patina. The chairs are sturdy and perfect. The table top has a little loss of lacquer, as visible in the pictures.
Price € 6500,- for the set
