Bas van Pelt 'Throne' Armchair My Home Netherlands 1938

Very rare 'Throne' armchair, designed by Bas van Pelt ca. 1938 and manufactured by Van Schaik en Berghuis for My Home Netherlands.
The chair is part of the so-called 'Hertenmodellen'-serie and was made in very small numbers. This high-back version is most likely the rarest of this serie.
It features a handcrafted solid oak frame 13 wooden spindles in the backrest. This high backrest gives the chair a throne-like appearance.The chair has beautiful details as the joinery point of the armrests and the front legs which is in macassar ebony wood and in the shape of a small tetrahedron.
The cushions are newly upholstered with a beautiful wool fabric by Bute Scotland. Also the foam is renewed.
According to some historical records this model was commissioned by prestigious institutions as the Dutch Town Hall.
The chair is in very good condition. The frame has been refinished some time ago. Only minimal traces of use.
