Tejo Remy Rag Chair for Droog Design Netherlands 1991
Iconic Rag Chair designed by Tejo Remy in 1991 for Droog Design Netherlands.
Tejo Remy is well known for his amazing 'You can't lay down your memory' chest of drawers, also designed in 1991. He was important in the early days of the influential Droog Design, that was founded by Gijs Bakker and Renny Ramakers to promote contemporary Dutch Design.
The chair is made of layers of second hand clothes (rags) held together by metal packing straps that create a unique and functional form. The structure is made of wood.
The Rag Chair challenges traditional notions of furniture as well as highlights the importance of resourcefulness in contemporary design, making it a significant contribution to the dialogue around sustainability and consumerism.
The Rag Chair is part of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Collection.
It is very heavy, ca. 50kg.
Fantastic chair, each piece is unique.
The chair is in excellent original condition. Only minimal traces of use.
